Our Cal-Mag 500-250+ formula provides a calcium and magnesium in a 2 to 1 ratio, in a highly bioavailable form. For easy digestion, we utilize our Controlled Delivery System that releases the formula over an 8 to 10 hour period.
Combined with corn-free ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), these mineral ascorbates are in their most bioavailable form. Magnesium is present since it is a cofactor in calcium’s utilization. (This formulation provides the ratio of calcium and magnesium recommended by many nutritionists.) Most importantly, we chelate both magnesium and calcium with amino acids to maximize mineral absorption.
Symptoms of calcium deficiency (i.e., bone loss) and magnesium deficiency (i.e., irregular heartbeat, muscle spasms, confusion) are not always readily apparent. However, Vitamin D deficiency decreases calcium absorption, and therefore calcium deficiency tends to go hand-in-hand with Vitamin D deficiency. Since magnesium deficiency also reduces calcium utilization, people with a magesium deficiency also show signs of calcium deficiency.
