Potassiums primary role is in the maintenance of appropriate levels of fluid within the cells. The attraction of water inside the cells is balanced by sodiums water-attracting properties outside the cells. To maintain that balance of fluid inside and outside cells, potassium and sodium constantly shift across cell membranes. A secondary role of potassium is in the conduction of nerve impulses and muscle contractions. As potassium shifts in and out of cell membranes, an electrical impulse is generated that stimulates specific cell activities. The average U.S. potassium intake falls at the low end of the provisional RDV range of 1875 to 5625 mg per day. Potassium deficiency is most common among individuals utilizing diuretics to control high blood pressure. ANRŪs Potassium comes in a 60 tablet bottle.
