ANRŪ’s vitamin C is present in a non-acidic mineral ascorbate form. This “buffered” vitamin C avoids potential gastric side effects caused by other forms of vitamin C. Since any vitamin C that cannot be used or stored is excreted, a daily intake is recommended. (Side effects usually occur at intakes larger than 2 grams per day.) Vitamin C is considered the antioxidant’s antioxidant, since oxidizing agents are more likely to react with vitamin C than the other antioxidants. As an antioxidant, it plays a significant part in blocking the formation of nitrosamines (cancer-causing agents). It also participates in the construction of protein from amino acids.
